New USFA Committee on University Administrative Practice

One of the most thought-provoking presentations at the 2011 Western Regional Conference of Faculty Associations was with respect to administrative practices at universities. Faculty members are faced with an ever-growing burden of administrative requirements.  An incremental change to university administrative practices that may appear logical from the viewpoint of administrative personnel may, in some instances, be implemented without adequate consideration of the impact on faculty workloads.  In other cases, faculty perspectives on the benefit of such changes are perhaps not being fully considered.

We are looking for six USFA members to participate on a committee that will monitor, debate, and provide commentary to the USFA Executive Committee on administrative practice at the University of Saskatchewan. The committee will meet 3-4 times per year. If you’re interested in becoming a member of the USFA Committee on University Administrative Practice, contact the committee chair, Ryan Walker (x5664), or simply express your interest by emailing Tammy Stieb at tammy.stieb@usask.ca .
