USFA e-Letter: Evaluating Faculty Satisfaction with SEEQ

The Collective Agreement permits course evaluations as evidence for tenure and promotion decisions (Article 12.1.1) if such evaluations are approved instruments of performance evaluation, and if anonymous comments are excluded. Currently, the computerized version of SEEQ (Student Evaluation of Educational Quality) questionnaire tags all comments with a number that can be used to identify the author of any comment. Thus, both the rankings and the comments in SEEQ documents can be used in all collegial processes (promotion, tenure, merit, renewal).

The Association is presently engaged in discussions with the Employer regarding SEEQ. We are interested in any views and concerns you may have as to the use of the data collected by SEEQ.
