Research Output without Faculty Input?

The title of this is e-Letter is a question that is being echoed from different parts of campus and is being focused on the new Health Sciences Building.

As we meet with members as part of our bargaining preparations, we are hearing concerns about impacts on research and teaching programs in relation to relocating to the new building. We are hearing about the negative impact of research clusters on the responsibilities of academic units, about inadequate space for students, inappropriate labs with no funds to upgrade, charging research grants to fund the building, and most of all no consultation with faculty about the decisions that are being made.

The USFA is willing to facilitate a meeting of faculty who will be moving to the new Health Sciences Building to share their expectations, experiences and concerns. Reply to this email if you would be interested in attending such a meeting.
